What's the Matter with the Hamptons?

Rich people are hard to figure these days.

Despite plans by Barack Obama to raise taxes on the rich, the wealthiest Americans supported him over John McCain Tuesday.

I know supporting Barack was the hip thing for the beautiful people to be doing, but doesn't pursuing your own personal best interest always trump fashion?

Exit polls indicate those who said their annual family income is $200,000 or more picked Obama over McCain 52 to 46 percent. Those voters accounted for about six percent of the electorate.

And certainly, Barack must have won amongst middle income folks, excited about their forthcoming tax cuts courtesy of the aforementioned evil rich?

In contrast, three of the four middle income categories favored McCain. He did best among voters who said they earned $150,000 to $200,000 a year.

So nobody voted their own best interest? Now that's confusing. It could be time for a new book - What's the Matter with Main Street?

I know it must be a hard concept for you to wrap your selfish brain around, Todd, but there are some people out there who do not vote solely based on what is in their own personal best interest. You know, maybe they vote for what is in the best interest of their neighbor, their community, their country, and those who aren't fortunate enough to be able to afford one of those fancy yellow hummers.
