Gibson's Hubris

Would Charlie have asked Barack Obama the hubris question?

While a certain level of hubris is arguably required for someone with experience only marginally better than Barack's to run for VP, the question is one more appropriate for the inexperienced candidate seeking the top position.

Palin Goes with Gibson

Charlie Gibson goes first.
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has agreed to sit down with ABC's Charles Gibson later this week for her first television interview since John McCain chose her as his running mate more than a week ago.
Gibson is a good way to roll out Palin. He's push her, but not too hard. She'll have room to reach past him, right into America's living rooms.

Palin will sit down for multiple interviews with Gibson in Alaska over two days, most likely Thursday and Friday, said McCain adviser Mark Salter.

The interview with Palin was confirmed Friday, ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider said.

The first-term Alaska governor has given speeches alongside McCain since becoming his surprise pick on Aug. 29. But Democrats have already begun to question why Palin has not been put before reporters to answer questions.

McCain, who appeared on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday, said he expected Palin to start doing interviews "in the next few days."

Barack Under Pressure

Charlie Gibson flustered Barack in an interview that aired on last night's World News. Impressive work from Gibson, who simply asked appropriate follow-ups, something few have the brainpower or the tenacity to do. By comparison, watch Katie's weak attempt to pursue Barack a day earlier.

Anyway, it's informative to see Barack's reactions when Charlie doesn't want to let him rewrite his prior statement on an undivided Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Equal Time

ABC News sends a signal.

In today's email blast promoting World News for tonight, they mention the Republican nominee. Oh, how they love to mock Fox News for using the phrase Fair and Balanced!

World News in the Middle East:
Senator Barack Obama continues his tour through the Middle East, meeting today with Israeli and Palestinian presidents Ehud Olmert and Mahmoud Abbas. ABC's Charles Gibson sat down with the presidential hopeful in Jerusalem for an in-depth conversation on the Middle East peace process and Iran's nuclear ambitions. We'll also have an interview with Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee.
