October Surprise

Joe the Plumber doesn't live alone anymore.
"I'm not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts - the institution just isn't structured that way."
As I fell asleep last night, I set the sleep timer so I could end the day with Hannity's America. There was some analyst - I don't remember who, and maybe he was on Hannity or maybe after - talking about whether there was still a way for McCain to win. He was saying yes, but not really. It would take one hell of an October Surprise for McCain to pull it out. This morning - there it is - on Drudge.
"The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society..."
We know that Barack was raised, politically, by radicals - and there's no hyperbole in using that language. The challenge has been knowing to what degree he, as a matured politician, still operates on the intellectual underpinnings of what he learned from Frank Marshall Davis, Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright, et al.
"As radical as people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn't that radical - it didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the constitution - at least as it's been interpreted, and that's how the Warren Court interpreted it in the same way - that generally the constitution is a charter of negative liberties..."
In this wonderful tape, Barack talks tactics. He is disappointed that the court rulings of the civil rights years only offered blacks the protections the rest of us enjoy, but didn't force wealth redistribution on the country, and he's discussing how redistribution can be achieved moving forward.
"It says what the states can't do to you, it says what the federal government can't do to you, but it doesn't say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf."
This proves that Barack is not a JFK "Ask not" kind of guy. He's the opposite. Which flies in the face of the premise of America, that which made the country great, the idea that if you give people the chance to get ahead based on what they can do, rather than who they are, you've achieved the end game. The results are up to them. Barack, and liberalism, wants the results guaranteed.
"...and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that."
Barack's frustration is that an activist court could have forced the country into socialism, but that the Warren Court just wasn't radical enough. In retrospect, he realizes the court is an institution that isn't designed for this sort of administrative role - he thinks that economic redistribution must be achieved some other way.

Happy October Surprise.

Biden Goes West

Great questions for Joe Biden from Orlando news anchor Barbara West has lead to her TV station being cut off by the Obama campaign. All she did was ask the obvious:

* If Biden is "embarrassed about the blatant attempt to register phony voters by ACORN," since Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., worked with the organization in the past;

* If Obama's comment about wanting tax policies that "spread the wealth" is "a potentially crushing political blunder"

* "You may recognize this famous quote: 'from each according to his abilities to each according to his needs.' That's from Karl Marx. How is Sen. Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?";

* Regarding Biden's comment that the world would test Obama and the Obama-Biden administration will need the support of Americans since it might not be immediately apparent Obama did the right thing -- "Are you forewarning Americans that nothing will be done and America's days as the world's leading power are over?"

* "What do you say to the people that are concerned that Barack Obama will want to turn America into a Socialist country like Sweden?"

These questions were so on target that Biden was shocked by them.
Biden seems quite taken aback by the anchor's questions, at one point asking her, "Are you joking? Is this is a joke? Or is that a real question?"

The interview prompted the Obama-Biden campaign to cancel a subsequent interview with Jill Biden.

"The campaign cited 'an unprofessional interview' WFTV's Barbara West did Thursday with Joe Biden," reports the Orlando Sentinel. "In a statement Friday, Adrianne Marsh, Florida spokeswoman for Obama's campaign, said the station, in talking with Sen. Biden, was 'both combative and woefully uninformed about simple facts. ... In a line of questioning that would make Rush Limbaugh proud, West even went as far as to quote Karl Marx, a Communist icon, in a disturbing attempt to associate Barack Obama with socialism.'"

It would have been nice if she'd also asked about the Obamafia, Barack's collection of radical friends who got him where he is today, but West got some good questions on the table... one's that were naturally dodged by Biden.

Spread the Socialism

Barack supporters are irate over suggestions that he is a socialist, or harbors socialist leanings. One has to suspect that this is because they don't bother reading anything about the guy.

Barack says he doesn't regret his remarks to Joe the Plumber about spreading the wealth. Why should he?

There's a lot of buzz being generated about Obama, ACORN and Obama's first political party - The New Party. How did the Oba-messiah get this far without anyone reporting he was a member of a fringe Leftist political party? Where the hell is the media anyway?

History shows that Barack shares the values of the socialists. He says so right here, with his endorsement in 2004 of Congressman Danny Davis, and with his attempt to win the endorsement of a socialist political party.
Barack Obama was a member of an extremist political party established by the Democratic Socialists for America, the Chicago New Party, and they cheered his victory in his uncontested run for his Illinois state senate seat as a step away from American values, towards socialism. [5] The New Party: The New Party is an unabashed Marxist "fusion" party from which Barack Obama actively sought out and received an endorsement for his state senate candidacy (in 1996). He did. [1] The party was a Marxist Political coalition.

Here's background from Erik Erickson at Human Events.
Two weeks ago at RedState, we documented Obama’s 1996 endorsement by the New Party. A review of the New Party establishes that not only was the party an amalgamation of far left groups, but Barack Obama knew that when he sought the party’s endorsement.

Most of the New Party’s history has been lost in the digital age. It was established in 1992 and started to die out in 1998, well before Google and the modern web were established. But through lengthy searches of the Nexis archive and microfilm at the local university library, I’ve been able to piece this together.

Tonight's Debate Strategy

McCain needs to go after Barack tonight, but it can't be about Bill Ayers, per se. It should be about his radical past, in general. It should be about his connection to the financial crisis via ACORN. And it should be about Barack's confession a couple of days ago, to a plumber concerned about his tax proposals, that he wants to redistribute the wealth.

I want McCain to whip out a tape recorder and play this cut into the microphone tonight, telling the American people that Barack slipped the other day and told the truth about his so-called tax cut. That would cause a commotion. But it would take some balls.

New Party

The blog Politically Drunk on Power has a feature on Barack's affiliation with a socialist political party called the "New Party."
In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago "New Party". The 'New Party' was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist 'New Party' was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations "fusion" reform platform as unconstitutional.

After allegations surfaced in early summer over the 'New Party's' endorsement of Obama, the Obama campaign along with the remnants of the New Party and Democratic Socialists of America claimed that Obama was never a member of either organization. The DSA and 'New Party' then systematically attempted to cover up any ties between Obama and the Socialist Organizations. However, it now appears that Barack Obama was indeed a certified and acknowledged member of the DSA's New Party.
