Biden's Test

One of the bizarre quirks of the presidential campaign is that the media has obsessed so over Sarah Palin's readiness to be president when Joe Biden is also a VP candidate.

John McCain and Sarah Palin sharpened their attack yesterday on Barack Obama's readiness to be commander-in-chief, using his running mate's prediction that Obama would be tested by an international crisis early in his presidency.

Seriously, Biden's remarks on Sunday indicate that his past problems don't have to do with being gaffe prone so much as being brain damaged.

Newly released medical records from vice presidential candidate Joe Biden do not include the results of any recent brain scans, which some experts consider necessary to assess whether the senator is at risk for a repeat of the brain aneurysms that nearly killed him 20 years ago.

The concern isn't a new aneurysm, the concern is what sort of damage was done by the earlier brain incidents.

McCain noted that Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden had compared Obama to John F. Kennedy, who presided over the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, then the Cuban missile crisis early in his term.

McCain said he was in his cockpit on the deck of the USS Enterprise in the waters off Cuba during the 1962 crisis.

Doesn't Joe remember that any mention of security issues returns the conversation to McCain's strength?

"You know how close we came to a nuclear war?" he told supporters in Harrisburg, Pa. "America will not have a president who needs to be tested. I've been tested."

Barack, of course, has not been tested on anything, while Biden has failed most every test connected to judgment.

"Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. . . . I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate. And he's gonna need help," Biden said, though he added that anyone who tests Obama will discover he has "a spine of steel."

While the elites are wringing their hands over Sarah, they don't notice that they've nominated a novice, born in the manger of radicals, who is backed up by a guy who has a screw loose.

Yesterday in Reno, Nev., Palin told supporters, "I guess we gotta say, 'Well, thanks for the warning, Joe.' " She then imagined the "crisis scenarios," based on what she described as Obama's foreign policy agenda: his pledge to meet with rogue leaders without preconditions, though he has amended that vow; and Obama saying he would go into the tribal areas of Pakistan to go after Osama bin Laden if the Pakistani government wouldn't, though Palin has supported a similar policy.

Holy cow. Biden sounds just like Jim Jones! "Come to father. Come drink the koolaide."

Maybe he was just drunk or something but I agree, that's some scary stuff, scary because... because he's right. Obama is such a greenhorn he still doesn't get it, still doesn't even seem to realize that preconditions are part of the negotiation for getting to sit down with the leader of the free world, you don't give that away before you even start the process. This guy will get eaten alive on the world stage in a way that we have not seen since Jimmy Carter and the Rose Garden Strategy.
