Gallup Rasmussen Fox

The latest polls, listed at RealClearPolitics.com show Barack hanging onto a slim lead. Gallup has him up 5, Rasmussen up 3, and Fox up 4.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows Barack Obama attracting 45% of the vote while John McCain earns 42%. When "leaners" are included, Obama holds a three-point advantage, 48% to 45%.
On the one hand, poll results are of only minor importance at this point in the campaign, because the general election campaign hasn't started yet. On the other hand, they're significant in that they reveal Barack's failure to do as well as an imaginary Democrat against an imaginary Republican.
Obama is viewed favorably by 52% and unfavorably by 42%. For McCain, the numbers are 55% favorable and 43% unfavorable.
This "generic" matchup gives Democrats a victory of upwards of 15 points - thus Barack is leading McCain at about a third of the strength that the invisible man has. Or, looked at another way, naming Barack as their nominee has weakened the Democrats chances of winning the White House.

Some say this is racism - I say it's just Wright.
